Model Scene — Larch 65-80 mm

A model tree from the Czech brand Model Scene, which has long devoted itself to scenic accessories for dioramas, layouts and display cabinets. It is not a model of an aircraft, a vehicle or a kit; it is a finished scenic accessory: a tree that creates a vertical in a scene, shades part of the view and gives it scale. According to the manufacturer, the trees of this brand are made by hand and supplied finished, ready to be set into the terrain at once. The height corresponds to 65-80 mm, so within one item the individual pieces differ slightly in height, which in nature is desirable; two identical trees side by side look unnatural.

Height, scale and use

• 1:35 — 65 to 80 mm corresponds to roughly 2.3-2.8 m of real height, that is, a young sapling or a lower conifer, not a mature forest giant. It suits undergrowth, the edge of a scene or a place behind a figure particularly well.
• 1:72 — about 4.7-5.8 m, that is, already a decently grown young tree.
• 1:87 (H0) and smaller — around 5.7-7 m and more, that is, a full-grown tree for a wood or an avenue.
• Planting: drill a hole in the base, set the trunk in and secure it with glue, then add scatter material or static grass around the foot, and the joint disappears.
• Composition: plant in odd-numbered groups and with the trunks leaning at different angles, so that the scene does not look like an orchard.

Who the accessory is for

For builders of dioramas (military vehicles, figures), railway modelers and makers of display cabinets and gaming scenery. The larch is an interesting choice: it is a conifer that turns yellow in autumn and sheds its needles, so it suits a summer green scene as well as autumn and winter settings. If you are building autumn, check the color variant; the manufacturer lists larches in a green as well as an autumn form and they are not interchangeable.

This is a scenic accessory, not a kit. The base, the terrain, glue, scatter material and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Handle the tree by the trunk: the needles and the fine twigs are delicate.
