Modular System Workshop - Brushes Section

Modular System Workshop - Brushes Section

The section for brushes from the modular Modular System Workshop line of the AMMO of Mig Jimenez brand. The individual parts of the line are bought separately and stack into an assembly according to what a modeler most often needs within reach on the bench. This one is, according to the name, reserved for brushes.

Storing a brush is half its service life

A brush is not ruined by painting but by storage. There are three most common ways to lose a good one: leaving it standing in water or thinner, laying it down bristles first on the bench top, and letting it dry with paint residue at the ferrule. A stand prevents that in the simplest way, because the brush stands bristles up, the tip touches nothing and the residual moisture runs down rather than into the ferrule. The difference compared with a jam jar is not in the price but in the fact that the brushes are separated, the tips do not rub against each other and you pull out exactly the one you want.

Care that pays off

• Always clean a brush before you put it back, because dried paint at the ferrule will splay the bristles irreversibly.
• Never leave it standing tip down in a pot of water or thinner, as it will bend and never straighten again.
• Smooth the tip to a point before putting it away and the section will then keep it in that shape.
• Put the most used sizes at the edge so that you do not have to reach across the whole bench for them.

Who it is for

• Modelers who have more than a few brushes and are starting to lose track of them.
• Those who paint figures or details and want to keep the tips in condition.
• Owners of parts of this line who add to the assembly piece by piece.

Brushes and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
