The tone is deep and clean, with no shift toward orange. The bottle has the same format as the other shades in the line, so it fits an ordinary rack.
The base is a solvent rather than water, and the consistency matches what an airbrush needs. Coverage is noticeable after the second pass. It can be thinned with the thinner from the same line; do not combine it with other types of thinner, because the solvent systems of different brands need not get along. The manufacturer does not state the sheen of the finished surface, so you set the final look with a varnish from the same range.
Who build or repaint motive power units in a form matching Epoch V and want a shade from the standard rather than an approximate substitute tone. It also serves where ruby stripes and trim need to be touched in on an older model. Away from the railroad it will do wherever a deep red tied to a standard is needed.
