The shade RAL 6005

RAL 6005 is a saturated dark green that is called moss. It is neither a grass green nor an olive: it is darker, calmer and over a large surface reads almost black until direct light falls on it. In reality you meet it on machinery and technical equipment, on sheet-metal covers and on rail vehicles, so it suits everywhere a green is meant to be grave rather than gaudy.

A paint for railway modelers

The MS Train Paints line is aimed at railway modelers and the shades match the RAL standard, so they can be reliably compared with the subject and with each other. It is a synthetic paint, not an acrylic: once dry it gives a firm and durable layer that will stand the handling of a model, but it dries more slowly than water-thinnable paints. The bottle holds 30 ml, which is enough even for the larger surfaces of carriages and buildings.

Application tips

• Stir the contents thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles in the bottle.
• Check the thinning and the ratio for spraying in the manufacturer's instructions; do not thin a synthetic paint with water.
• Lay it on in thin coats, as a thick coat runs and floods the fine relief.
• Give the paint time between coats; a synthetic dries longer than an acrylic.
• Clean the brushes and the airbrush immediately after work, as a dried layer is hard to remove.
• Close the bottle carefully after taking paint out and wipe the rim, or the cap will dry shut.
