MS Train Paints - RAL 7012 Basalt Gray (30 ml) is a neutral darker gray from the RAL standard. It belongs on the lower areas of motive power and makes a good base under later weathering.

A darker neutral gray to the RAL standard in a 30 ml package. Model Scene intends it for frames, running gear and tanks, among others on the retro liveries of the class 753 machines. A gray of this kind makes the natural underside of a model, on which further layers of dirt are easily built. The frame and the running gear are the visually heavy part of a model and greatly influence how the whole vehicle reads.
A solvent base, a viscosity ready for immediate spraying, a high covering power. It is not thinned with water. The underside of a vehicle is broken up, so spray from several angles and rather in lighter passes, so that the coat does not gather in the corners between the cross members and flood the detail. The tone is neutral, so later color effects will not be lost under it or shifted.
It will be reached for by builders finishing the chassis areas and frames of motive power, and by anyone looking for a neutral darker gray with a standard behind it and a good covering power on a broken-up casting. It will also serve on tanks, brackets and the small underslung fittings that on the real machines were unified by paint.
The liquid and its vapors are flammable, they irritate the skin and serious eye damage is a risk; longer or repeated exposure may damage organs. Work in short spells and always with ventilation.
