MS09 - War on the Road Set

A paint set for the subject of roads and their surroundings

This is a themed set of modeling paints from the Italian brand Lifecolor. The name of the set points to the environment of roads, that is to the surfaces of roadways, shoulders and everything that goes with them in a scene. The manufacturer has released another set on the same subject, so the two can complement each other. The specific list of shades, the number of bottles and the volume are given by the manufacturer on the packaging of the set, where you will find them together.

What the set is suited to

A roadway tends to be a large area on a diorama, one that the viewer unconsciously compares with reality. A uniform gray coat gives it away at once, whereas the difference between worn ruts, the shoulder and patched places lends the scene depth and a story. Matched tones for one subject make this work simpler and save mixing bottle by bottle.

Recommended procedure

• Work from the lighter tones toward the darker ones, adding more is always possible and taking it away considerably harder.
• Divide the area into worn lanes and less used places, a uniform surface looks artificial.
• Test on an area that will not be seen, because the tone shifts once it has dried.
• Stir the contents of the bottle before use, the pigment settles to the bottom.
• Handle thinning and cleaning according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging.

Who the set is for

For builders of dioramas and scenic settings and for modelers who want to stand equipment on a believable surface instead of a smooth base. It will serve on a model railroad and in city scenes too.

Keep the paints out of the reach of children, ventilate the area while you work and follow the manufacturer's safety instructions on the packaging.
