An abrasive that reaches where nothing else gets through

A narrow strip barely thirteen millimeters wide is built for a single task: to work in places where a flat sheet or a sanding stick will not fit. You can pass it through the gap between the spokes of a wheel, thread it under a suspension mount, wrap it around a gun barrel or an exhaust and, sanding back and forth, level a surface you would otherwise be reaching with a file all evening. The flexible polyester backing film, eight hundredths of a millimeter thick, does not break even at a sharp bend.

Two grits on one strip

One side carries the coarser grit of one hundred and fifty, the other the finer three hundred and twenty. So you only have to turn the strip over and carry on with the finer grade without hunting for another tool. The coarser side removes material and the finer one blends away the trace it leaves. It is precisely this combination that makes the strip a practical tool for quick jobs for which it is not worth laying out the whole sanding kit.

Size, work, care

The total length is one meter, so it can be cut into pieces according to the job and the used part simply snipped off. It can be worked dry as well as with water; the wet route is gentler and does not clog the abrasive. Hold the strip taut in both hands and draw it in straight paths, because twisting leads to an oval mark. After use, rinse it and let it dry freely, unrolled, so that the edges do not stick together. Anyone who often works with resin will appreciate one more small thing: its dust is unpleasant, and wet sanding keeps it at the part instead of in the air, so it makes sense to reach for water even where the dry route would do.
