The package contains soft lead wire of circular cross section and 0.9 mm diameter in the longer form, which the manufacturer offers alongside a shorter variant. The material serves for building details that a plastic kit lacks or only suggests: hoses, wiring, piping, grab handles, tow cables, lifting eyes, antennas or runs of fuel lines.
Lead wire is markedly softer than copper or brass and hardly springs at all. When you bend it, it stays exactly in the position you bent it into, so even a freely hanging cable or a sagging rope can be imitated faithfully. It cuts with ordinary nippers without burrs, it can be squeezed into an oval cross section or flattened, and the surface takes primer and paint well. In 1:35 scale the 0.9 mm diameter suits roughly the thicker hoses and ropes, while in smaller scales it suits piping and structural elements instead.
Lead is a toxic metal. Wash your hands thoroughly after handling it, do not put the material in your mouth, do not sand it dry and keep it out of the reach of children.
