Outcropping Boulders is a scenic material by Woodland. The name designates it as boulders of the rock-outcrop type, that is as an element for the places where bedrock comes through to the surface. It is not a model and not a kit, but a material for building terrain.
Unlike vegetation, which is added at the end, stone elements belong to an early stage. An outcrop has to grow out of the terrain, not lie on it, and that means preparing a place for it before the area is closed up: making a hollow in the base, setting the element into it and modeling the surroundings around it with filler or terrain medium so that the transition disappears. If a stone is laid on finished, grassed terrain, it stays visibly alien and the only rescue is to overgrow the edges afterward. A rock outcrop also sets the logic of a whole scene, because it indicates where the bedrock runs, and the other stones should follow on from that.
For builders of landscape and mountain dioramas, for display bases with more pronounced terrain and for players building terrain elements with a rock motif.
Look for the dimensions, the number of pieces, the material form and the volume of the package on the packaging. When sanding and filling, protect your airways and work in a ventilated space.
