A scraper for cleaning up seams and flash on the parts of plastic kits. It takes material off where you want it, without touching the surrounding surface.
Responsibility details are not available.
On the parts of plastic kits, fine lengthwise ridges and flash are left over from production. Until they are removed they show through under the paint and break up an otherwise clean surface. A scraper is gentler on this job than abrasive paper: it takes material off only where the edge bears on it, so the neighboring surfaces, the riveting and any fine texture come to no harm. This is a tool for building models.
Lay the edge across the ridge and run it along the length of the part in repeated light strokes. A scraper does not cut; it takes the material off in thin layers, so haste and pressure lead only to it digging in and cutting a groove. Work away from yourself and hold the part so that it does not flex. On curved surfaces choose shorter strokes and keep checking against the light whether the ridge is level yet. Smooth the rest off with a fine abrasive and wash and degrease the surface before painting.
It will be appreciated by anyone who builds plastic models and wants the surface of the parts finished before reaching for the paint. It also serves well where abrasive paper is hard to maneuver, that is, on narrow edges, ribs and places next to small surface detail. The manufacturer gives the particular instructions for maintenance and for replacing or sharpening the edge.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The manufacturer gives the exact contents of the package.
