Modeling scrapers made for cleaning up parting lines on the parts of kits. They scrape the material off without breaking up the surrounding surface.
Responsibility details are not available.
On the parts of kits a thin ridge is left along the parting line after production. If it is not removed, it shows through under the paint as a light stripe and remains visible on the model even when it is finished. A scraper is a tool that takes this excess off by drawing it across the surface. Unlike a file or abrasive paper it does not round the edges off and does not take material away over a wide area, so the neighboring details are kept.
Draw the edge of the tool over the part always in one direction and in several light strokes, not in one heavy one. Hold the tool tilted slightly and let the surface guide it; there is no need to press, the edge does the work itself. The material taken off comes away as thin curls, by which you can tell at once that the cut is going properly.
On thin-walled parts choose shorter strokes and keep checking the thickness of the material, so that the wall does not get worn through. Once scraped, the spot only needs a light polish with a very fine abrasive; anything coarser will break up its surroundings again. The manufacturer's instructions give closer guidance on use and on caring for the edge.
The tool suits anyone who builds plastic models and wants the surface clean before painting. It will also be appreciated by modelers whose fine details around the worked area keep getting damaged by abrasive paper. Models, abrasives and other tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
