The perpendicular sanding piece in a gray finish from DSPIAE has a right-angled profile, so it reaches into an inner corner and holds both walls at a right angle while doing so.
Responsibility details are not available.
A modeling sanding piece with a right-angled profile. The point of such a shape lies in the place that ordinary tools avoid: the inner corner. Paper folded into a corner rounds it off, a flat plate does not reach all the way to its bottom, and a file as a rule damages one of the walls. A perpendicular profile, by contrast, braces both walls against itself and holds a right angle between them.
A corner is what shows most on a model once sprayed. A rounded corner catches the light differently from the walls around it and the surface then looks soft, even if it is dimensionally accurate. At the same time putty and paint collect in a rounded corner, so the detail is gradually filled in. A perpendicular piece deals with both at once. Work in short strokes toward the corner and never bear the shaped piece on the edge of the profile, because it is the edge that decides whether the corner comes out sharp.
For modelers of interiors, vehicles and dioramas, where angular transitions occur most. On the rounded fuselages of aircraft it comes into play less, and there a curved shaped piece is in order. The gray finish is one of the color variants of the range, so do not ascribe other properties to it without confirmation from the manufacturer.
Fine dust arises while sanding, so work in a ventilated space and consider respiratory protection. Keep tools out of the reach of children.
