This is a tool for work on a small area. The narrow blades and fine tips allow the cut to be led precisely along an edge and let you keep an eye on the place where the blades meet, which is not possible with ordinary office scissors. A modeler will use them whenever a small item has to be separated without creasing it or tearing the edge.
Most often when cutting decals out of a sheet, where it is advisable to lead the cut tight around the motif, then when dividing masking tape into narrow strips, when shortening thin films and plastic strips and when working with paper, canvas or twine on a diorama. The tips reach even places into which the blade of a knife does not safely fit, and the cut is cleaner than a slice because it needs no backing.
Keep the scissors for modeling work only. Do not cut hard wire or metal sections with them, as the fine tips will break out or go blunt and the precision is then gone for good. After working with sticky materials, wipe the blades with alcohol so that no glue residue dries on them; dryness and a wipe after use extend the life of the edge more than anything else. Put the scissors down so that the tips do not knock against other tools, and out of the reach of children.
