Note that this is neither an ordinary plastic rod nor a kit. It is a special material: a metal wire sheathed in an extruded butyrate (plastic) coating. Inside there is wire, outside white plastic. The outside diameter is 1.6 mm, the length 375 mm, and it is sold by the piece. A modeling material, not a kit.
That is where the whole added value lies. The metal core holds the shape — bend the profile with your fingers or pliers into a curve and it stays there. It does not spring back straight the way a solid plastic rod does, it does not break at the bend and you do not have to heat it. At the same time it has a smooth white plastic surface that can be sanded and painted like the rest of the model, so the result does not look like bare wire. You get a tube you can shape that behaves like plastic.
The coating is butyrate, not polystyrene. That is a fundamental difference: an ordinary cement meant exclusively for polystyrene may not melt the joint reliably. Use either a solvent cement the manufacturer states for butyrate and ABS as well, or cyanoacrylate — that always holds. Before painting, degrease the surface, roughen it lightly with fine sandpaper and lay down a primer; ordinary modeling paints will hold then.
For modelers who add their own details and for scratch builders and mockup makers — anywhere a part needs to be shaped while still matching the plastic model in color and surface.
The material is supplied on its own. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package. Because of the metal core, shorten the profile with side or end cutters, not with a scalpel — the blade would be damaged.
