A plank 1.1x2.3 mm in white polystyrene, from the range that copies the dimensions of real lumber. Suitable for floors, walkways, joists and wall boarding.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plank twice as wide as it is thick is the most common shape you will meet on a real building. The ratio of 1.1 to 2.3 corresponds to four by eight inch lumber reduced to the size usual on a layout. That is exactly why a structure built from it looks natural: the size did not arise by chance but copies a real carpenter's measure.
It finds a use as the floorboard of a warehouse, the board of a walkway, a joist under the roof of a shed, the timbering of a ramp or the boarding of a barn wall. Set on edge it handles the role of a thin joist, laid flat it makes floors. Two pieces glued into a T shape make a beam with a flange, three put together a framed door surround. In military scenes it suits trench revetment and bunker hatches.
A floor looks better when the boards are not laid tight together but with a hairline gap set by a strip of paper. The gaps are then brought out by shading and the surface gains depth. It is a good idea to stagger the ends of adjacent rows so that the joints do not run in one line. Before painting it is worth roughening the surface lightly, because a smooth face looks far too perfect for wood.
