Evergreen I-profile 1.5 mm

A white opaque polystyrene profile of I section with a height of 1.5 mm and a length of 35 centimeters. The section is formed by two flanges joined by a web, so at first glance the profile looks like a rolled steel beam. That is exactly its main advantage, as a load-bearing structure on a model does not have to be built up from several parts.

Use

• The beams of halls, bridges, crane runways and shelters in dioramas.
• The chassis frames of trucks and trailers.
• Stiffeners and cradles under loads on railway wagons.
• Industrial structures, scaffolding and stands for scenes.

Work tips

Cut the profile with a saw or a sharp knife and then level the cut with a sanding stick, otherwise the joint in a corner will not seat. When building a lattice structure, draw the whole outline on a mat and glue the individual elements straight onto it, as the result will then be straight and square. A steel look comes from a dark gray base color into which rust applied with a sponge is layered.

You strengthen the joints in a structure by gluing a small triangle of thin sheet into the corner from the inside. It is invisible on the finished build and yet it carries a substantial part of the load and keeps the angle square.

When cutting, work with a sharp knife on a cutting mat and do not inhale the sanding dust.
