Tamiya PS43 Translucent Orange, a 100 ml spray

PS43 Translucent Orange belongs to the PS spray line from Tamiya, which the Japanese manufacturer developed for the polycarbonate bodies of RC models. The paint is applied to the inside of the body, so the surface layer of the material takes care of protecting the paint and the color survives rougher driving. The can holds 100 ml.

Orange in the translucent version is tinting rather than covering. It behaves like a color filter, because the more coats, the darker and deeper the tone, while the area stays permeable to light. That is exactly what is used on clear panels, on lighting effects or on bodies that are meant to look like a colored acrylic cover.

Use

• Wash the body, degrease it and let it dry completely, because residues of mold release from the molding process repel the paint.
• Mask from the inside and press the edges of the masking tape down firmly so that the paint does not creep under.
• Shake the can before work and test the spray away from the model.
• Apply several thin coats, because one heavy coat will create blotches and an uneven tone.
• If you want full density, add a covering base coat from the inside once it has dried.

Who it is for

It suits RC modelers building a striking body with areas that let light through, and anyone who wants to combine translucent shades into gradients. This line is not intended for polystyrene plastic kits.

The contents are flammable and under pressure. Spray in a well ventilated space or outdoors, with respiratory protection, away from sources of ignition. Keep the can away from heat and do not pierce it.
