RED - ARTISTIC DENSE ACRYLIC COLOR

The basic red tone from the modeling range of dense acrylic colors by AK interactive, supplied in a metal tube holding 20 ml. Red tends to be the most troublesome of the ordinary colors, because as a rule it does not cover and shows through to pink over a darker base. Here the maker relies on exceptionally finely ground pigments in a high concentration, which give full coverage without encroaching on the fine modeling of the surface, and the finished coat stays matte.

Red on uniforms and machines

• Facings, trouser stripes, collars and cuffs on uniforms, where red breaks up a uniform area.
• Cloaks, saddle cloths and shabraques on cavalry figures.
• Banners, standards and battle devices on shields or hulls.
• Fire service and racing machines, where a painted surface is to come across richly.

Coverage and layering

Even with a well-covering red it pays to start from a lighter base; the tone then takes on its full strength sooner. Squeeze a little of the mass onto a palette and work it into an even consistency, so that lumps of pigment do not appear in the coat. A rich red area also likes to show the traces of a brush, so lead the coat in one direction and lay the second coat at right angles to the first. For a shadow mix in a darker earthy tone; to brighten it, yellow instead.

Who it will serve

It will be valued most by painters of figures, historical units and fantasy models, but the range is used for free painting as well.

Store out of the reach of children, ventilate a closed room regularly and tighten the cap once the work is finished.
