Red (Clear)

Red (Clear), a transparent red lacquer (Mr.Paint)

What it is: a transparent red lacquer from the Mr.Paint range intended for toning, glazes and colored translucency. It is applied over another color or a gloss surface and tints it red without hiding it. The classic uses are on tail and position lights, reflectors and clear parts, on candy red over a silver or chrome metallic finish, and for deepening and evening out red areas. The paint is a solvent-based lacquer supplied ready to spray, drying gently to a smooth surface.

What it is NOT: it is not an opaque red paint. On its own it will not hide what is underneath, and over a light base it gives only a faint tint; the resulting saturation depends on the number of coats and on the color of the surface beneath.

Use

• Intended for the airbrush; apply it in thin coats over a dry, ideally gloss surface.
• If needed, it is thinned with this brand's lacquer thinner, not with water.
• Build the saturation of the tone up gradually: more coats mean a deeper red.
• Suitable for tail and position lights, reflectors, clear parts and candy effects over a metallic finish.
• Over a dark surface it shows only a little; it comes out best over a light or gloss base.

Who it is for

For modelers who work with an airbrush and need a transparent red for lights, clear parts and candy glazes. It is not a substitute for an opaque red paint. Mr.Paint lacquers are not primarily intended for brush painting.

Lacquer-based paint: flammable. Spray in a well-ventilated area and with respiratory protection (a respirator), out of the reach of children and away from open flame.
