About product

Resin Ice — a two-part resin for ice from AK Interactive

A modeling material for creating ice and frozen surfaces in a diorama and a vignette. It is neither a paint nor a kit: it is a two-part epoxy resin that is mixed with a hardener before use and after curing forms a hard transparent mass. In thin layers it can be broken and textured once cured, so that realistic ice floes, cracks and the uneven surface of a frozen puddle are created. The set also includes an acrylic product for imitating the surface texture of ice and measuring syringes for an accurate ratio of the components. The manufacturer states approximately 120 ml of resin and 30 ml of hardener.

Use

  • Frozen puddles, ruts and muddy potholes on a road
  • Ice floes, cracks and the uneven surface of a frozen sheet of water
  • Thin layers of ice on equipment, barrels and wooden elements
  • Combination with other diorama textures from the same manufacturer, for example with snow

Who it is for

For builders of winter dioramas and vignettes in any scale who need transparent ice with depth, not just a white paste. The work demands patience: the resin is poured in thin layers and each one has to cure fully.

Epoxy resin and hardener can irritate the skin and the eyes. Work in a well-ventilated space, use gloves and protect the surface underneath. Keep out of the reach of children.

The resin is poured in thin layers. A thin cured layer can be broken and textured, which creates floes and cracks.

Yes, the ratio of resin to hardener according to the manufacturer's instructions is essential. With inaccurate measuring the mass may not cure, which is why measuring syringes are in the package.
