Practical advice

Most brushes are ruined by dried residue high up at the ferrule, where paint picked up during work gets in. Never dip a brush deeper than halfway up the hair, therefore, and clean it after every longer session. After treatment, shape the tip with your fingers and let the brush dry lying flat or tip down, never tip up in a jar, or moisture will run into the ferrule and loosen it. Store brushes so that the tip touches nothing.
