RLM 24 Dunkelblau is a dark blue shade of the German RLM standard range, by which the finishes of aircraft were unified during the Second World War. The numbers in this range denote particular standardized shades, so a modeler does not have to mix a tone of their own and can look the color up directly by the number in the instructions or in the material for a color scheme. The paint comes from the Mr.Paint range and is meant for spraying with an airbrush.
Stir the bottle thoroughly before work, so that the pigment settled at the bottom disperses through the whole volume. Dark shades easily swallow the detail of shapes on a model, so build the paint up in thin layers and shade the surface, that is first bring out the seams and shadows and then lighten the centers of the panels with a lighter tone of the same shade. Let the paint set between layers. Mask the surrounding areas, press the tape down along the edge and spray from the edge inwards, so that the paint does not creep under. Before decals go over the surface with gloss varnish, because on a matte dark surface light edges would appear around the artwork.
Work in a well-ventilated space, ideally by a spray booth, and use a respirator and gloves. Close the bottle carefully after work, or the paint will thicken. Store it upright, in a cool place, out of direct sunlight, away from sources of sparks and out of the reach of children. Flush the airbrush immediately after spraying.
The shade will be appreciated by modelers of German aircraft of the Second World War who work by the numbers of the RLM range. The model, an airbrush and thinner are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
