Green Stuff World rollers are a tool, not a material. The principle is simple and effective: you roll the modeling putty out into a slab, run the roller over it and the surface turns into a continuous texture with a regular pattern. In a few seconds you get an area that would take hours to carve by hand. The Vampire motif is one of the darker gothic patterns and suits horror and fantasy themes, crypts, chapels and haunted scenes.

How it is used

• Roll the modeling putty out on a smooth surface into an even slab.
• Lightly dampen the surface and the roller or rub them with a release agent so that the putty does not stick.
• Run the roller across in one smooth movement with even pressure; going over it repeatedly will smear the pattern.
• Cut the impression to the shape you need while the putty is still soft.
• Let it cure fully, then sand, glue and paint it like any other surface.

What putty to work with

The roller works with two-part modeling putties and with heat-cured polymer clays. The crucial thing is the moment at which you make the impression: the putty has to be still plastic but no longer tacky. Putty that is too fresh drags behind the roller, and putty that is too stiff will not take the pattern. A few test impressions on an offcut are worth more than an hour of corrections.
