Rolling pin with Handle - Flagstone Small

Green Stuff World texture rolling pin with a handle, Flagstone Small

A rolling pin with a handle, on whose surface the negative of irregularly laid flat stone slabs is engraved. The pattern is not pressed into a finished model but into soft modeling compound: air-drying clay, polymer compound or two-part putty. The handle matters in this line, because the pin is held like a paint roller, the pressure goes vertically down and the texture comes out evenly across a whole area even on a large piece. The word Small means a finer version of the pattern, that is finer stones than on the basic variant of the same subject, which is a separate item.

Use

• Roll the compound out into a flat layer of even thickness, ideally between two guide strips.
• Lightly damp or dust both the pin and the compound, so that the compound does not stick to the relief.
• Go over it in one smooth pass with even pressure, because going back and forth smudges the impression.
• Cut cracks and unevenness into the fresh compound, as perfect paving looks believable nowhere.
• Once set, cut the shape of the base out, paint a base coat on, go over it with a dark wash and bring the edges out with a dry brush.

Who the rolling pin is for

For builders of dioramas and gaming terrain and for painters of figures who want to make their own bases. Unlike finished pieces a rolling pin is not used up: a pattern bought once will serve for any number of scenes.

The manufacturer does not state the diameter of the pin, the width of the band of pattern or the length of the handle in the name. Modeling compound is not included in the package.
