Set x8 Acrylic Wash Ink Paints

Set x8 Acrylic Wash Ink Paints - a set of eight Green Stuff World washes

According to the name the set holds eight acrylic ink washes from Green Stuff World. A wash is a thin, strongly pigmented water-based preparation applied over an already painted surface, where it runs by capillary action into recesses, engraved lines and joints. That brings out the shape by itself: the recesses darken, the raised areas stay light and the model gains a relief that solid coats achieve only with effort.

What it is and what it is not

• Washes are translucent. They are not covering paints and are not used as a base coat.
• They go on over a finished ground, ideally over a gloss or satin varnish, which a wash flows over better.
• The excess is wiped off with a damp brush or a cloth before it dries.
• The depth is governed by the number of coats, not by the strength of one coat: two weak coats are always better than one heavy one.
• Shake the bottle thoroughly before use; the pigment settles to the bottom.
• It is thinned with water; mixing with varnishes and solvent enamels is not recommended.

Who the set is for

For modelers of figures and wargaming armies, where washes belong to the basic procedure, and equally for builders of vehicles who need to bring out rivets, panels and cast texture. It also suits beginners, since a wash is the quickest way to turn a flat coat into legible volume. The particular shades in the set and the volume of the bottles are given by the manufacturer on the packaging of the set.
