SS Freiwilligen Grenadier Division Langemarck Plaque 40mm

The real subject

The designation Langemarck was borne by a Waffen-SS formation made up of Flemish volunteers, which at the close of the Second World War came about by the conversion of an earlier Flemish unit and was committed on the Eastern Front. The name refers to the village of Langemark in Flanders, bound up with the heavy fighting of the First World War; in the German tradition this place became a symbol to which the propaganda of later years appealed. With formations of this kind the real numbers of men stayed far below what their designation suggested.

What kind of accessory this is

It is a round plaque 40 mm in diameter from a range of accessories for dioramas. It serves to mark a base, a base plate or a display case with a scene on a matching theme. The finish, the material and the recommended method of fixing are given in the manufacturer's instructions, so look into them before gluing.

Placement tips

A proven position is the front edge of a base, where the plaque is read as the eye goes to the scene. Try the layout dry, rid the ground of dust and grease and only then settle the plaque. A round shape gives away every rotation, so line the position up against the edge of the board and press it down only at the end.

Who it is for

It suits a modeler who is building a scene or figures from the Eastern Front and wants to provide finished work with a neat description. A diameter of 40 mm matches a smaller base rather than an extensive diorama. The model itself, a base, figures, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
