Static grass 6 mm, BURNT Brown shade, 280 ml

Static grass consists of short dyed fibers that are applied to terrain in such a way that they stand upright, hence the name static. They are stood up by the electrostatic charge from an applicator, or by careful sifting and tapping over smaller areas. It is precisely the upright stance of the fibers that makes the difference between a convincing meadow and a flat green carpet. The 6 mm length corresponds to taller, fully grown grass; the package holds 280 ml, that is a large supply for several projects.

Use

• Coat the area with PVA or a special grass glue and apply the fibers while the layer is still wet.
• With a static grass applicator an electrostatic field stands the fibers up; without one a sieve and tapping will help.
• Once it has dried, vacuum or shake the surplus off and use it again.
• Do not plant a single shade over a whole area; a mix of two or three tones and lengths always looks more natural.
• Reinforce the tufts with a second layer in the places where grass would grow more thickly: by walls, fences, in ditches and around stones.

Where burnt brown fits

The burnt brown shade is parched, literally scorched grass. It suits summer and autumn scenes, stubble after harvest, the edges of field tracks, peat bogs, steppe and semi-desert terrain and places where grass has dried out after a fire. It works wonderfully as a transition color: between a green meadow and bare earth it looks more natural than a sharp boundary.

For builders of dioramas, railway layouts and wargaming terrain. The 280 ml volume and the 6 mm length make it a practical material for large areas, not just for fine-tuning a detail.
