Grass tufts 2 mm, beige shade

Grass tufts are ready-made clumps that are glued onto a model as a whole. Against loose static grass they have the advantage of growing from a single point and spreading outward, so a natural irregularity appears on the surface with no further work. A fiber height of 2 mm matches low, trodden or mown growth. The beige shade represents dry grass: it comes into its own in desert and field scenes, on parched plains, at the edges of roads and anywhere the scene is meant to look like late summer rather than spring.

Use

• Lift the tuft off the carrier film with tweezers, because squeezing it with your fingers makes it fall apart.
• Apply a drop of PVA glue to the base and seat the tuft in it with light pressure.
• Place them irregularly and in varying density, because a regular grid gives the artificial origin away.
• Combine beige tufts with green ones, because the transition between dry and living grass brings a scene to life.
• Once dry, go over the tufts lightly with a dry brush and paint to blend them with their surroundings.

Who they are for

They suit figure painters finishing off bases, builders of dioramas and model railway modelers. The work is simple and quick, because the tuft is ready-made and nothing has to be shaped. That is exactly why it is a good start for anyone just beginning with vegetation on a model.

This is a small material that does not belong in the hands of young children. Store it dry. Glue is not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
