An airbrush stencil is a thin template that you lay on the surface of the model and through whose cut-out pattern you apply paint with an airbrush. It comes into its own where the same motif has to be repeated in several places, or where a fine texture has to be suggested that a brush alone would manage only with difficulty. The 90 x 60 mm size corresponds to a medium format: it covers a larger area at once and still stays manageable on smaller parts and on diorama accessories.
Lay the stencil on a dry, degreased surface and press it down so that it sits flat over its whole area. Where it does not sit flat, the paint will creep under the edge and the pattern will blur. Spray perpendicular to the surface, from a short distance and in several light coats, because a single heavy coat blurs the edge. Lower pressure and less paint give a cleaner edge. Take the stencil off shortly after spraying, before the coat has dried hard.
After use, clean the stencil with the thinner corresponding to the paint used and let it dry flat. Dried paint on the edges of the openings clogs the pattern and the next spraying will no longer come out crisp. Store it flat, because bends and creases will show up in the sprayed result.
Paints, thinner and an airbrush are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
