White self-adhesive film cut into strips 0.6 mm wide. The finest trace the film part of the range can manage.

Six tenths of a millimeter is the limit beyond which there is no point in narrowing a masking strip further. A thinner strip would tear while being peeled off the backing before it could settle on the model. This item stands exactly at that limit and offers the finest line to be had in the white film rendition.
Working with a strip this narrow calls for tweezers with smooth jaws and a steady hand. Peel the film off at a sharp angle, not perpendicularly upward; with a perpendicular pull the material stretches and never returns to its original size. Once it is lying in place, run the pad of a finger over it: a little warmth helps the adhesive settle into the texture of the varnish.
What it is for: a border around a cockpit frame, outlining a panel joint before shading, separating a thin stripe of camouflage on a wing or defining an area with a non-slip treatment. On a 1:48 model such a strip works out at not quite three centimeters of real width, in 1:72 at roughly 4.3 cm. In both cases it is a line that neither a brush nor the finest nozzle would keep straight.
Combining widths: it pays to buy the finest format together with one of the middle ones. Two strips of different widths running side by side create the double border carried by the outlines of numbers and insignia, and that without a single stroke of a brush.
The difference from paper: the carrier is flexible, can be stretched into a curve and follows even a slightly uneven surface. At the same time it adheres more firmly, so lay it on freshly sprayed paintwork only once the paint has dried through properly. Leave any unused remainder on its original backing and protect it from dust.
