Not every piece of terrain is built and then left in peace. A layout is operated, models are reached for and cars on an off-road course run over a surface that has to take something. This mix aims at exactly that: it dries to a high hardness, resists the forming of cracks and soaks up less water than softer plaster compounds.
Its second strength is the fidelity of a casting. The set compound takes over even a small pattern from a mold, so stone faces come out with sharp edges and a legible texture. The cured material can at the same time be used as a binder, because a finished casting adheres to a plaster base even without a separate glue.
The manufacturer advises it for work in the open air and for casting small figures too. The net weight of the package is 4 pounds, 1.81 kilograms converted. Once cured, the surface stands up to toning with liquid earth pigments from the range of the same brand, so it is painted by the same procedure as softer castings.
It is supplied in the form of a dry powder to be mixed with water. Containers, molds and paints are not part of the delivery and have to be obtained separately. When casting it helps to wet a mold lightly beforehand and to work the compound into it in parts, so that no air pockets are left in the deeper places.
