Tall Grass - Gold is a scenic low vegetation by Woodland. The name designates it as tall grass in a golden key, that is growth for dry and late-season scenes. It is not a model but a vegetation medium applied to finished terrain.

Tall grass is a test of fidelity to scale

With tall growth a mistake in scale shows at once. Grass that in reality reaches a person's knees has to end roughly at the calves of a figure in the usual military scale, and the same grass in a smaller scale already has to be noticeably shorter. The blades, though, tend to be supplied in one length, because they can always be shortened and never lengthened. Before you start on an area, stand a figure or a vehicle wheel next to the growth and compare the height. Shortening with sharp scissors once dry is quick, and for the credibility of a scene it tends to be the step that takes the least work.

How to work with the growth

• Always compare the height with a figure or a model directly on the scene, not by eye.
• Trim only after it has dried, and preferably in small steps.
• Leave the growth uneven. An even trim looks like a lawn, not like a meadow.
• Concentrate the taller grass at the edges, in ditches and behind obstacles, where in nature nothing is mown.
• Fix with PVA glue and if need be hold the blades upright while they dry.

For builders of dioramas with summer and autumn landscapes, for display bases under vehicles and figures and for players who prepare their own terrain. The work needs no experience, only a check of the height against the scale of the scene.

Look for the length of the blades, the volume of the package and the coverage on the packaging. Ventilate when working with glues and keep the material out of the reach of small children.
