Template line 4mm is a universal SX-Art masking stencil for spraying straight lines 4 mm wide. It is not tied to a particular model or scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The stencil defines a straight line 4 mm wide while you spray. Unlike masking sets made for particular kits it is not tied to one type of model or to one scale, so you can use it on an airplane, on a vehicle and on a car. It suits anywhere you need a sharp, repeatable stripe or a precise border between two shades.
Straight lines of constant width are very hard to spray freehand: masking tape narrows as it bends, wanders on longer runs and the result gives itself away by its uneven edge. The stencil therefore deals above all with color stripes on fuselages and wings, sharp borders between camouflage fields, dividing lines between the upper and lower color, decorative stripes on hoods and the sides of vehicles, and precise framing of panels. The narrower and wider versions of the same type differ only in the width of the line — base your choice on the scale of the model and on how wide the stripe is meant to be in the end.
The base coat has to be smooth, degreased and completely dry; never lay masking on fresh paint. Press the stencil down reliably along the whole length of the edge so that paint cannot run under it, and add masking tape and paper to cover the surroundings if need be. Spray at a right angle to the surface, thinly and in several passes; a single heavy coat is drawn under the edge almost every time. Take the masking off slowly and at an angle away from the edge before the paint has fully cured — a fresh coat peels cleanly, a fully cured one is apt to tear.
Paints, masking tape and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
