A transport box of sanded plywood 3.6 mm thick, supplied as a laser-cut set of parts to be assembled. It serves for storing and carrying a finished aircraft model - to a competition, to a show or when moving house. The model is anchored in the box, so it does not shift inside and does not rub against the walls. The 350 x 350 mm footprint corresponds roughly to a single-engine fighter in a large scale.
Why a box and not the kit carton
A finished model is at its most vulnerable at the moment it is moved. What break most often are propellers, antennas, pitot tubes and landing gear legs, and usually in the original cardboard carton, where the model rolls around loose. A solid plywood case with the model anchored prevents that and will last many journeys.
For modelers who take their work to competitions and shows, and for anyone who needs to store finished models safely. You assemble the box yourself, so count on a short piece of extra work before the first use. The parts are glued with ordinary wood glue and the surface can be stained or varnished as you please.
The box is supplied unassembled and unfinished, and a model is not included in the package. Check the internal arrangement and the way a particular model is anchored against your own subject.
