TS-39 Mica Red 100ml

Tamiya TS-39 Mica Red (100 ml spray, made by Tamiya)

A spray paint from the Tamiya TS range. The binder is a synthetic lacquer that dries fast to a smooth surface. The shade is a red with a pearlescent (mica) effect that changes with the angle of the light and gives the surface depth. The can holds 100 ml, which covers roughly two to three bodies in 1:24 scale. The spray is ready for immediate use.

Use

• The pearl effect shows best over a gloss surface, and a gloss dark or red base coat is often chosen.
• Apply in thin coats from a distance of roughly 20 to 30 cm with even passes.
• The pearl pigment settles to the bottom, so shake the can thoroughly before and during work.
• Do not apply it over an enamel surface, as a lacquer spray could attack it.
• Once dry, the area can be coated with a clear varnish compatible with lacquer paints for depth and gloss.

The spray is flammable, so work in a well ventilated area away from sources of flame and protect your airways. It is not recommended for clear polycarbonate (Lexan) RC bodies; use the Tamiya PS range for those.
