The DSPIAE 2.9 mm tungsten steel drill bit is a single modeling bit for plastic. A diameter that suits wherever you want a hole a little tighter than a round three millimeters.
Responsibility details are not available.
A single diameter from the DSPIAE modeling range, according to the name intended for plastic models. It is held in a hand pin vise or a micro drill.
A difference of one tenth against the round size looks negligible, but in practice it is exactly the working method that separates a loosely sitting part from a firm seat. When you seat a pin of a nominal three millimeters in a hole, a hole of the same size will after drilling be rather larger, because a bit always works with a certain clearance. The result is a part that turns loose and holds on glue alone.
Drilling a tenth less first and tuning the hole afterwards is the safer road. Material can be taken away at any time, but not put back. The same logic is worth using whenever a hole has to hold something mechanically: pins, wheel axles, locating pins between fuselage halves.
Try the fit dry as you go, without glue, and check both depth and tightness on a scrap piece of plastic rather than straight on a kit part.
For the modeler who does not drill holes just for the sake of it but seats pins and axles in them and cares that the joint holds without play.
Sharp tip, keep out of the reach of children. Make test holes in scrap material and do not breathe plastic chips.
