The sandy shade Lifecolor Sand FS30277 comes into its own twice in an interior — as the base of the inner surfaces of desert vehicles and as the light tone with which edges are drawn out in a bay.

A landing gear bay and an open engine compartment collect everything a model meets: dust, sand and dry soil. A light sandy shade with a reference to the Federal Standard in its name therefore fills two different roles inside a model, and it is as well not to confuse them.
On vehicles in a desert scheme the insides of covers, doors and bays tend to be painted the same light tone as the outside. There the shade works as a full base and the interior stays markedly lighter than on green or gray schemes — which paradoxically brings the opposite problem: the area easily bleaches out and loses detail. The answer is to darken the corners and the transitions right after the base, so that the space comes back into depth.
Inside a bay the greatest enemy is uniformity. A sandy tone laid on with a dry brush along the edges of ribs, lines and frames does what light would otherwise do: it separates the individual elements from the background. It serves just as well for dusting the lower surfaces and the edges of the openings through which dirt gets into the space.
Keep out of the reach of children, and ventilate during longer work.
