Instrument panels, side consoles and seat frames — that is where the dark gray Lifecolor Dark Grey FS36118 belongs, holding the role of the main dark tone in a cockpit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Panels, consoles and frames make up most of what is visible in a cabin. A dark gray with a reference to the American Federal Standard in its name is the classic tone for this part of an interior: dark enough to give the space gravity and still gray, so that details can be read on it. That sets it apart from black, on which detail disappears altogether.
A dark area inside a model needs the opposite procedure from a light one. Instead of shading you work with emphasis: a very light dry brush with a tone a step lighter will draw out the edges of the instruments, the bezels of the dials and the buttons. Anyone who wants to go further will set small spots of color on the warning lights and a clear drop on the dials, to give the impression of glass. The important thing is not to emphasize everything — a panel on which every edge is lit looks as though it were covered in dust.
For builders of aircraft and modern vehicles who want a cockpit built on one reliable dark tone and to build the contrast from there. The standard number in the name makes comparison easier with the shades that give it too.
Store out of the reach of children and work in a well-ventilated space.
