Inside American armored personnel carriers the point was not camouflage but light, which is why APC Interior Green FS 24533 belongs there, a water-based acrylic paint from Lifecolor.
Responsibility details are not available.
The abbreviation APC means armored personnel carrier. Its inside served a different purpose from the outer armor: it did not camouflage but reflected light, so that the crew could see the instruments, the ammunition and the kit. That is why the interior green is noticeably lighter and cooler than the olive on the hull. The shade APC Interior Green FS 24533 is a water-based acrylic paint and carries the number of the American federal chart in its name.
Why an interior is painted differently
A light inside has one more practical effect for the modeler: in a dark space behind an open rear only what reflects light is visible. On a light green the dark details, the wiring, the seats and the stowed kit all stand out. A rich olive would swallow them. The interior is therefore painted before the hull is closed, and the transition between the inner and the outer tone is usually sharp rather than gradual.
Modelers who open rear ramps and hatches and want the inside to be visible for something. It also suits anywhere a light green with a cool cast is needed.
