A leather jacket looks different on a figure from a cloth uniform, and the shade Leather Jacket from Lifecolor is mixed for exactly that. A water-based acrylic paint from the uniform line.

Leather jackets and short coats were worn by vehicle crews, airmen, motorcycle dispatch riders and officers, and on a figure they are told from a cloth uniform at a glance. The Leather Jacket shade is the brown tone of tanned leather soaked by wear, that is the color of something no longer new but a long way from worn out. It is a water-based acrylic paint from the uniform line of the Lifecolor brand, intended for painting figures and their personal kit.
The difference is made not only by the tone but by the way the material works with light. Leather is smooth and is polished in the bends by wear, so on the edges of the collar, the lapels, the cuffs and the waistband a sharper highlight appears than on woolen fabric, where the transition melts away. The shadow, by contrast, stays narrow and hard in the folds. When a jacket, canvas straps and woolen trousers meet on one figure, each of those three materials calls for a different width of transition between light and shadow.
It suits modelers of figures in 1:35 scale and up and builders of dioramas where leather is seen close to. It is also usable on small leather elements on models of vehicles, where they otherwise merge needlessly with their surroundings.
The pigment settles at the bottom, so stir the contents thoroughly from the bottom up every time. Store it closed and out of the reach of children.
