The British aircraft palette has a light gray of its own, and in acrylic it is offered by Lifecolor RAF Sky Grey FS 36493 with a number per the American standard.
Responsibility details are not available.
A light gray acrylic shade intended for the Royal Air Force, with a number of the American Federal Standard added. British schemes work by a different logic from the German RLM system: instead of a pair of dark upper colors and one light lower color, a light gray appears on large areas of the fuselage and wings on a number of types.
Light grays are both loved and hated by modelers: on a large area they have nowhere to hide an uneven coat, yet they carry subsequent shading and panel emphasis superbly. It therefore pays to apply the shade in thin coats and to check it under harsh light as you go. On a model of a British aircraft it covers the lower surfaces and, in some schemes, the sides of the fuselage as well, where it passes into the darker upper colors. The number of the American standard in the name says nothing about the period or the type of machine; it is merely a coordinate of the shade the paint maker chose as a reference.
For modelers of British aircraft and for everyone who assembles a palette by standard numbers. Always check the particular extent of the area in the documentation for the type chosen; British schemes changed more often during the war than elsewhere.
Keep out of the reach of children. Ensure ventilation when spraying.
