The shade Regia Aeronautica Nocciola Chiaro 4 Var is the lighter position of the hazel brown the Regia Aeronautica used in its camouflage finishes. The word chiaro means light in Italian, and the abbreviation var at the end of the name refers to a variant of the shade, of which there were several in period practice; the colors were mixed by various suppliers and in various periods, so one name was far from meaning a single tone.
A modeler building an Italian machine rarely gets by with a single brown. On the real aircraft the areas faded by the sun differed from freshly painted ones, repaired panels had a different tone from their surroundings, and units topped their colors up from whatever was at hand. The lighter variant of the same shade therefore serves to play a surface out into several positions without having to mix your own blends and risk a result that cannot be repeated.
It is intended above all for builders of Italian aircraft who want both positions of the brown in their palette. It will also serve well those who work with color modulation and are looking for a ready lighter counterpart to the base brown without mixing their own.
Keep it well closed and out of the reach of children, and ensure a supply of fresh air when working in an enclosed space.
