Apple green is an outsider among subdued military tones, and that is exactly why it suits places where a color is meant to be readable immediately. Vert Pomme is a Lifecolor acrylic shade whose French name means literally apple green: a light, lively green with a clear yellow undertone, far from olive and khaki positions.
Lively light tones behave differently from the low-visibility grays this shade sits next to in the palette. With grays the point is that the difference between two areas should be barely perceptible; here the intention is the opposite and the color is meant to carry contrast. It therefore pays to lay out in advance how much area it will get: over a large surface rich green tones quickly overpower their surroundings, whereas in smaller fields and on details they hold the composition together. An even light surface benefits the tone, because traces of unevenness read more clearly on a rich light surface than on a gray. The shade is usable with the brush and the airbrush alike.
