Below the waterline a ship model has an entirely different color than above it, and that is exactly where Italian Regia Marina Rosso Mattone from the Lifecolor acrylic range is aimed. The brick red shade of the underwater part of the hull of Italian warships, a water-based acrylic.
Responsibility details are not available.
A brick red shade from the Lifecolor acrylic range, tied to the underwater part of the hull of the ships of the Italian wartime navy. The Italian rosso mattone corresponds to the color of brick, that is, the subdued red-brown that hulls wore below the waterline. The paint is acrylic, water-based.
The waterline divides a model into two halves
The waterline is the line to which a ship sits in the water, and it is the sharpest color boundary on the whole hull. Above it goes the gray of the vertical surfaces, below it precisely this red. If you are building the model as a full hull on a stand, you need both shades and a straight, clean line between them; it is visible from every angle on a finished model and a transition that has not come off will give away otherwise fine work. With a waterline version, where the bottom of the hull is missing, the shade will find use on a narrow strip at the edge at most.
For modelers of Italian ships who build a full hull and want a period tone below the waterline instead of a general rusty red. It will also find use in dioramas where a ship lies on its side, in a dock or on a slipway and the underwater part is fully visible.
Keep out of the reach of children, work with good ventilation and close the container carefully after use.
