The decks of British escort ships had a tone of their own, different from the sides, and it is precisely that tone which Royal Navy WWII W.A. Semtex Green from Lifecolor corresponds to.
Responsibility details are not available.
The acrylic paint Royal Navy WWII W.A. Semtex Green completes the group of Western Approaches shades with a tone for horizontal surfaces. The word Semtex in the name is the period designation of the non-slip deck covering used on British warships. This is therefore not a color for the sides or the superstructures, but for the surface that was walked on.
A horizontal surface looks upward and reflects the sky, whereas a vertical side reflects the water and the horizon. If a deck were given the same light tone as the side, it would look overexposed in daylight and would, on the contrary, make the ship stand out from a height. A deck tone is therefore usually more subdued and less light than the color patches on the sides. There is a practical side to it as well: the surface of a deck had to stand the traffic of the crew, so its shade follows from the material used and not from camouflage.
How to put it together
On a model the deck is usually dealt with separately, with the neighboring surfaces masked, so that a clean boundary stays at the railings and the superstructures. It pays to work with slight deviations of tone between the individual parts of the deck, because a uniform area without differences looks flat. Escort ships moreover had a very crowded deck, so between the fittings one sees a number of small sections rather than one continuous area of color.
