The acrylic modeling paint Intermediate Wear from Lifecolor is a shade from the subgroup of tones named after the degree of surface wear.
Responsibility details are not available.
A single bottle of acrylic modeling paint from the palette of the Italian manufacturer Lifecolor. The name of the shade can be translated as intermediate, transitional wear and hints at what the tone is meant for in the palette: it is neither the color of a fresh finish nor the extreme state of a completely weathered surface, but an intermediate step between them.
A weathered surface is not one color on a model, but a continuous series of tones. When the jump goes from the new state straight to the darkest weathered one, the result looks harsh and unconvincing, because such jumps do not arise in nature. That is exactly why weathering palettes have intermediate steps: the modeler uses them to fill the transition between coats and the eye then reads the surface as gradually worn, not as two different colors laid side by side. Transitional tones are moreover useful on edges and in places where the surface touches its surroundings the most. This shade belongs to several neighboring tones in the manufacturer's palette named after the state of wear, so it can be bought as part of a coherent scale.
The paint is intended for modelers who work with gradual surface weathering and for diorama builders putting together a scale of wear tone by tone.
