Universal Abrasive Block 120

Universal abrasive block, 120 grit, 80 x 50 x 20 mm, Model Craft

An abrasive block with a medium 120 grit, measuring 80 x 50 x 20 mm. In the sanding sequence this is the step at which the surface stops being shaped and starts being smoothed: 120 grit reliably removes the scratches left by coarser blocks, but still has enough cut for small unevenness to be leveled with it. It can be used on metal, wood, plastics, leather, rubber, laminate and painted surfaces, so one block covers most of the materials you will meet in a modeling workshop.

Use

• Smoothing the surface after coarser grits and removing their scratches before the final sanding.
• Leveling the parting seams on fuselages and hulls after filling, where a coarse grit would only deepen the hollows.
• Removing the remains of sprue gates from plastic parts and finely adjusting the shape of resin parts.
• Sanding paint down before a repaint, so that the new coat holds better and no edges are left in it.
• Knock the block out after use. A clogged face sands unevenly and can polish the surface instead of abrading it.

Who the block is for

For modelers who want one universal block for ordinary smoothing before painting, and for anyone who works with putties and needs to keep a larger surface level. For the final surface under a gloss varnish we recommend following on with a still finer grit.

Sanding produces dust, which must not be breathed in. Work in a ventilated space and use a respirator and eye protection, especially with resin, putties and old paintwork.
