Plastruct White Styrene Sheet — White Polystyrene Sheet 0.5 mm, 175 x 300 mm

A smooth sheet of white polystyrene, 0.5 mm thick and 175 x 300 mm, sold as one piece. This is a modeling material, not a kit — a raw material from which you cut exactly the part you need.

A thickness of 0.5 mm is a practical middle ground: the sheet already has its own stiffness and does not curl like a thin film, yet can still be comfortably scored with a scalpel and snapped by hand. It is the most versatile thickness for most accessories in common scales.

Use

• Panels, bulkheads, floors and ceilings of interiors.
• Covers, hole plugs, hatches, doors and filling unwanted openings.
• Backing plates, reinforcements and gluing tabs to strengthen joints from the inside.
• Scratchbuilding — parts not found in the box, repairs to damaged sections, diorama bases and stands.

Gluing and painting

The key property: it is the same plastic as ordinary plastic kits. It is therefore glued with ordinary solvent-based plastic cement — the cement melts the surface and forms a firm weld, not just a glued joint, so a part cut from the sheet holds on the model just like an original part. It is painted with exactly the same paints; a primer is worthwhile on large smooth areas, and it also reveals imperfections.

Working the material

Do not cut the sheet all the way through. Place a ruler against it, run a scalpel along the same line several times, and then snap the scored sheet over the edge of a table — this produces a straight edge with no fraying. Lightly sand the edge afterward with fine sandpaper. Make holes with a small drill bit and finish them with a scalpel.

The material is supplied on its own. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package. When cutting with a scalpel, cut away from yourself and keep your fingers out of the blade's path.
