X-14 Sky Blue (Enamel)

Tamiya X-14 Sky Blue (Enamel) — Gloss Synthetic Paint, 10 ml

A modeling paint from Tamiya's enamel (synthetic) line in a 10 ml volume. The Sky Blue shade is a light sky blue and is the only classic opaque paint in this respect — unlike the tinting and clear shades of the X line, it has normal covering power and is applied like an ordinary paint. The X line means a gloss finish. The paint is solvent-based: it is thinned and cleaned with X-20 thinner (without the letter A). Do not confuse it with the acrylic version of the same number, which is thinned with X-20A and is water-based — these are two different media that do not substitute for each other.

Use

• An opaque coat on light-blue areas — the undersides of aircraft, civilian equipment elements, modeling accessories.
• Applied with an airbrush or a brush; for spraying, thin the paint with X-20 to a suitable consistency.
• Enamels are the classic medium for washes and panel-line highlighting over a cured acrylic base — X-14 can also serve as a base coat for such techniques.
• A gloss finish is suited as a base under decals; a matte look is achieved afterward with a final matte varnish.
• Stir the paint thoroughly before use, and apply large areas in several thin coats.
