Tamiya XF-15 Flat Flesh — Matte Acrylic Paint, 23 ml

Tamiya XF-15 Flat Flesh is a water-thinnable acrylic paint from manufacturer Tamiya in a flesh shade with a matte finish. For Tamiya, the XF designation means a matte line, while X is the gloss line — so XF-15 dries without shine, which is exactly what you need for human skin: glossy skin on a figure looks artificial. The package is a glass jar with a capacity of 23 ml. Note: this is a modeling paint, not a kit.

Use

• Figure skin — faces, hands, necks, and other exposed body parts on military and civilian figures, aircrews, tank crews, and riders.
• A base coat under shading: XF-15 is applied as the starting tone, and only then come shadows (darker washes, oil paints) and highlights — thanks to the matte surface, washes flow nicely into the recesses without creating blotches.
• Mixing flesh tones — adding a drop of red, brown, or white lets you adjust the warmth and lightness of the skin to match the character (a tanned soldier vs. a pale pilot).
• Small accessories in a beige-flesh tone (for example straps, wooden gunstocks as a base, canvas elements) — a practical base tone.
• Applied with a brush or an airbrush; thinned with Tamiya X-20A acrylic thinner.

Who the paint is for

For figure painters and modelers who add crews and characters to their models, as well as for diorama builders. Small facial areas work best with a quality brush and lightly thinned paint — it pays to apply two to three thin coats instead of one thick one, to preserve detail in the features. On bare plastic, we recommend a primer coat.
